UPHOLSTERY CLEANING
As with carpets, because your upholstery is also a very expensive item in your home, office etc, the cleaning of your sofas, armchairs, dining chairs, etc. also demands the extensive expertise and experience of a firm such as DRYOLOGY.
Upholstery fabrics attract and hold many contaminants such as body oils, dust, perspiration etc and the correct treatment and removal of these are essential to the longevity of the fabric and therefore the whole suite (not to mention the health risk!).
Again, there are many firms out there who will “clean”(?!?) your upholstery for what appears to be a very cheap price – BEWARE ! BEWARE !
These firms will usually finish the “work” in less than 1 hour and generally leave the fabric sopping wet leading to problems such as “brown-out” staining (water marks), mould & mildew growth and in some cases, shrinkage of the fabric.
QUESTION : So what does DRYOLOGY technicians do differently ??
ANSWER : We carry out the following procedures:
- We pre-inspect the fabric for damage, tearing, scuffing, fading etc and make you aware of any problems,
- We do a “colourfast” test before commencing the cleaning to ensure there is no possibility of colours “bleeding” or running
- We do a THOROUGH pre clean vacuum of the entire suite
- We apply our unique cleaning solutions ensuring they are strictly PH balanced for the particular fabric being cleaned
- We gently agitate the cleaning solutions using various grades of soft brushes to again match the various fabrics of different suites
- We thoroughly rinse & extract the fabric with hot water and do a double extraction to ensure minimal moisture is left in the fabric
- We then brush or groom the fabric if necessary (as in ‘velvet/micro suede’ fabrics) to prevent “pile” distortion and to enhance the final appearance)
- Finally, if required we “speed dry” the entire suite with specialized air movement equipment
NOTE : DRYOLOGY very strongly recommends that most fabric upholstery should be “fabric protected” after cleaning to ensure ongoing protection against oil and water based spillages etc and to facilitate future cleaning without having to work as hard on the valuable fabrics. (When the price of a quality lounge suite is considered, it is common sense to ensure it is adequately protected). We use ONLY the highest quality protectants.

NO MESS TILE & GROUT CLEANING
Tiles can really enhance the appearance and appeal of both the interior and exterior of homes and business/commercial buildings. And the use of tiles has increased dramatically over recent years. However, tiles and grout still attract and hold soilage and oil and water based “contaminants” from any number of sources such as cooking, peoples feet, air borne dust and grime, food and drink spillages, pets, etc. And if left without regular cleaning over time the appearance of the tiles can dull and discolour and the grout lines can soil and change colour (usually darken) as well. Sure, some people clean their tiles and grout regularly by mopping them over with water or with water and detergents. However, although this can give a reasonable result, the water and detergents cannot be properly rinsed and or extracted. The end result of this is that the water and detergent leaves a degree of soil holding residues on the tile surface with the remainder washing down into the grout lines where they remain, allowing soil to build up again.

Of course, in the case of most Ceramic Tiles sealing is not required due to the vitrified glazing of the surface but the grout lines certainly should be protected with high quality sealers.
